Machan Wildlife Resort
Simple chalet accommodation
Accommodation in the resort is in simple timber-framed chalets with private facilities. To blend with the environment, lighting is by kerosene lanterns which are placed outside the rooms at sunset. The resort does have a generator which supplies electricity to the main building where the dining room and bar are located. The pathways to the rooms are also lit by electric bulbs. On arrival you will be given refreshments and introduced to the one of the resident naturalists who will brief you about the programmes and the facilities.
During your stay at the Machan Wildlife Resort a full programme of activities is provided for you. A team of expert naturalists has been formed here under the leadership of Dr. Charles Ramble, an anthropologist and naturalist with wide experience of Nepal. They will share their knowledge of the jungle’s flora and fauna as they guide you on elephant back and in Landrovers, on nature walks and birdwatching excursions. There are also trips by traditional dugout canoes along the Rapti River, and a few miles upstream lie the villages of the Danwar tribal community where you will gain a glimpse into the lives of the jungle dwellers of this low-lying region of Nepal.
